LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has opposed the formation of an inquiry commission for investigating the Panama Leaks, which made Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family come under fire after their names cropped up in the leaked documents from a Panamian law firm.
PPP Senator Aitzaz Ahsan on Monday expressed his reservations over the formation of inquiry commission on Panama papers. He said that the Supreme Court should not constitute a commission on Panama leaks as it would lead to massive delays in the investigations, suggesting that to take the matter to a logical end, the case must be pursued according to the Terms of References (ToRs) proposed by the joint opposition.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had remarked that, if required, the court would either constitute a commission or would continue to itself hear the case.
On Monday, PM’s children Maryam Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz submitted their replies pertaining to the Panama Leaks case in the Supreme Court.
It was stated in the replies that Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz have been living outside Pakistan for 16 and 22 years, respectively. Their father Nawaz Sharif has no involvement in his children’s businesses as well as no connection with properties in London.
