KARACHI: Police on Wednesday apprehended a suspect involved in the killing of former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) legislator Manzar Imam and several others, officials said.
The suspect, Ashfaq alias Chief, was nabbed in a raid conducted in Karachi’s Pirabad neighborhood, police said. He was said to be involved in a number of targeted killings in the megapolis including the high-profile killing of former MQM MPA Manzar Imam.
Officials also claimed to have seized a Kalashnikov from him.
Apart from Manzar Imam, the suspect, along with his accomplices, also killed eight other people in different areas.
Imam was assassinated on January 17, 2013, in Karachi’s Orangi Town area. The brazen gun attack on Imam’s vehicle had also left three of his security guards dead.
