MWM leader, 20 others apprehended in search operations in Karachi

KARACHI: Law enforcement agencies rounded up Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen leader Allama Syed Ahmed Iqbal in a search operation on Monday.  

According to sources privy to development, Allama Ahmed Iqbal was shifted to an undisclosed location after being taken into custody from New Rizvia society.

Moreover, at least seven people were arrested and 20 were detained in the overnight raids conducted by Police and Rangers.

Earlier, on a tip-off by intelligence agencies, law enforcement authorities took into custody Aftab Ahmed but later released him. Speaking on this matter, Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly Khuwaja Izhar-ul-Hasan said that Ahmed was not picked up by the authorities, but was called by them for interrogation.
