Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Assembly speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, DG NAB Colonel Siraj Naeem and several other ministers attended the ceremony.

The decision to replace the governor for Sindh was made at a recent meeting between President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Geo News learnt. After which, the Presidency issued a notification of Zaman’s instatement as Governor on Wednesday.

Zaman has remained the Chief Justice of Pakistan from July 1999 till December 2005. During the former dictator General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf’s rule Zaman refused to take oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO).

In 2008 he ran as a presidential candidate from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

Governor House in now pure: Nehal Hashmi

Speaking to journalists after the oath taking ceremony Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senator Nehal Hashmi said that the Governor House had now become pure after a new governor had been appointed.

“The last sign of terrorism has been removed from the governor house,” he said adding that 14 years ago a representative of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan founder was made governor.

He added that the new governor will help maintain peace in the city.

“Anti-Pakistan people with the help of Musharraf managed to occupy the Governor House. Now people who love PML-N are in the governor house,” he said.
